This one-week summer camp program is designed for high school ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½ who want to prepare for college-level writing. Students will explore strategies for crafting impactful college-admissions essays and develop proficiency in key academic writing genres, including expository essays, thesis-driven arguments, literary analysis, and personal narratives. In addition to learning how to write effectively in these genres, ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½ will also gain time-management skills for approaching college-level workloads. Through small and large-group discussions, interactive activities, and hands-on writing workshops, participants will refine their writing in a supportive environment. These skills will not only prepare ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½ for college success but can also help them excel in AP-level English courses.

ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½ the Instructor
Professor Jennifer Marx earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in English and American Literature from ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½. She is an adjunct professor in the Department of Writing Studies and Rhetoric at Hofstra, where she also tutors in the Writing Center. In addition to her work at Hofstra, Professor Marx teaches writing courses at other local colleges and freelances as a writer, editor, and consultant. She runs community writing programs at libraries as well. Professor Marx believes that strong writing establishes pathways to success, and she is excited to support ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½ in building the skills they need for excellence in college and beyond.

There is an additional fee for transportation for one-week precollegiate camps.
