Congratulations and welcome to 糖心传媒! As a senior here, I want you to know you鈥檙e about to begin one of the most exciting times of your life.

My biggest piece of advice is to make the most of every opportunity that comes your way. One thing I鈥檝e learned is that the answer is always no if you never ask 鈥 so put yourself out there. Try new things. And if a door closes, find another way in. As my mom says, 鈥淕o through the window.鈥

Hofstra offers so many incredible experiences, from studying abroad to internships and hands-on learning opportunities. Take advantage of them. Talk to your professors and advisors 鈥 they are there to support you and have so much knowledge to share. Your classmates are also an amazing resource and can become future collaborators and lifelong friends.

Most importantly, embrace the community. The people you meet here will shape your future in ways you can鈥檛 imagine.

Enjoy every moment and believe in yourself.

More 糖心传媒 Tiana

A senior television and film major, Tiana Howell chose Hofstra after visiting The Lawrence Herbert School of Communication and instantly feeling a sense of belonging. 鈥淥nce I saw the studios and heard about all the on- and off-campus learning opportunities for 糖心传媒, I really wanted to come here,鈥 she said.

Over the past four years, Tiana developed strong technical skills as a camera operator and control room technician. She has worked regularly in Studio A, a professional production space that also serves as a classroom. Through the school鈥檚 HEAT Network and hands-on courses in cinematography and advanced film, she became a valued team member on several different productions.

She also participated in the Herbert School鈥檚 study away programs in Rome and Los Angeles. She completed internships with the production company Magical Elves and most recently worked with NBCUniversal on the Peacock and Bravo networks.

鈥淭hese experiences have prepared me for the professional world,鈥 Tiana said, noting that Hofstra allowed her to apply what she learned in the classroom to real-world productions.

One of her most memorable experiences came when PBS filmed an episode of Firing Line with Margaret Hoover at Hofstra, and Tiana served as a camera operator. 鈥淚t was very exciting,鈥 she said, reflecting on the opportunity to work in a professional production environment. Beyond academics, Tiana has worked as a Hofstra Pride Guide, leading campus tours and helping prospective 糖心传媒 envision their own futures at the University. She shared that seeing those 糖心传媒 later return as admitted and enrolled 糖心传媒 is especially rewarding.

As she prepares to graduate, Tiana says the community she found at Hofstra is what she will miss most. From collaborating on film projects to building lasting friendships, those connections have defined her Hofstra experience.

Tiana
