Mission Statement
The Lifelong Learning Lecture Series, hosted by the School of Health Sciences, is dedicated to fostering curiosity, community engagement, and intergenerational exchange through the pursuit of knowledge. Held weekly on Mondays at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., this series features enriching presentations by distinguished faculty, administrators, staff, 糖心传媒, and members of our partner retiree organization 鈥 PEIR (Personal Enrichment in Retirement). Our mission is to create an inclusive and dynamic learning environment that promotes health, well-being, and intellectual growth for learners of all ages.
Vision Statement
The Lifelong Learning Lecture Series seeks to advance the University鈥檚 mission of education, scholarship, and community engagement by serving as a forum for the exchange of ideas across disciplines and generations. We envision an intellectually stimulating environment where members of the University and local communities engage in meaningful dialogue that promotes critical thinking, interdisciplinary inquiry, and a sustained commitment to lifelong intellectual and personal development.
鈥淥ur world is changing around us in such a frantic pace that if we do not continue to grow and develop; we will soon be left behind. In the 21st century, we all need to be lifelong learners. We need to continually keep our skills sharp and up to date so that we have an edge in all we do. Of course, we all have a natural desire to learn for adapting to change, enriching, and fulfilling our lives.鈥
The quote originates from the article titled 鈥淟ifelong Learning; Why Do We Need It?鈥 authored by Marjan Laal and Peyman Salamati. This article was published in the journal Procedia 鈥 Social and Behavioral Sciences in 2012. The article emphasizes the importance of lifelong learning in the context of rapid societal and technological changes, highlighting the necessity for individuals to continuously update their skills and knowledge to remain relevant and fulfilled in the 21st century.
