Culinary Arts Academy Introduction: Apple Pie to Zucchini
Begin your culinary adventure! Explore all types of culinary cuisine from breads and deserts to stir fry and chicken soup. Students will learn proper cooking techniques using the latest in restaurant quality equipment in an industrial kitchen; while practicing safety, knife skills, and food preparation as well as proper sanitation.
Culinary Arts Academy: International Cooking
Bon Apetit!! Take your culinary skills to the next level and expand on the fundamentals of cooking and explore both regional and international dishes. Students learn to make dishes that include Italian, Mexican, Chinese, German and American Cuisine.
Culinary Arts Academy: Baking
For the Love of Baked Goods!! Students learn a variety of skills, including methods for mixing and accurate measuring, baking science, and artisan bread baking; how to make yeast dough, breakfast pastries, and more; and how to prepare various fillings and icings.
Schedule: These are full day programs in Culinary Arts, which will take place at Nassau BOCES Joseph M. Barry Career & Technical Education Center. All classes take place at the Nassau BOCES Barry Tech campus between 10am-3pm. If you opt to use Hofstra Summer Camps transportation camp times will vary.
