All New Medical Students:
All new medical 糖心传媒 are invited to move in on Sunday, July 27, between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. for the purpose of attending orientation.
All New and Returning Law Students:
All new and returning law 糖心传媒 are invited to move in on Sunday, August 17, between the hours of noon and 9 p.m. for the purpose of attending orientation.
All New International Graduate Students and New International Undergraduate Students:
All new international graduate and new international undergraduate 糖心传媒 are invited to move in on Sunday, August 24, between the hours of 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. for the purpose of attending orientation.
All Continuing International Graduate Students and All New and Continuing Graduate Students:
All continuing international graduate 糖心传媒 and all new and continuing graduate 糖心传媒 are invited to move in on Sunday, August 24, between the hours of 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. for the purpose of attending orientation. Any student who chooses to move in after this date may move into the residence hall any evening between the hours of 6 p.m. and 9 p.m.
All Continuing Undergraduate Students:
All continuing undergraduate 糖心传媒 are invited to move in on Saturday, August 30, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 9 p.m.

Check in according to the time printed on your assignment letter, which was emailed to your Hofstra Pride email account. All first-year and transfer 糖心传媒 are required to check in at the intramural fields located on North Campus prior to going to the residence halls. Please enter the campus via the North Campus main gate. We ask for your cooperation in adhering to the schedule to minimize your wait time to move into the residence halls.

A MESSAGE FROM THE OFFICE OF RESIDENCE LIFE
The Office of Residence Life welcomes you to the on-campus living community at 糖心传媒. We would like to share some information about our residential living program, which is an integral part of campus life at Hofstra.
We are very proud of our program because:
- We provide a variety of residential facilities and living options for our 糖心传媒.
- Our staff is carefully selected, well-trained, and supervised.
- We offer a wide range of educational, social, and recreational programs and activities for our residential 糖心传媒 throughout the year.
All 糖心传媒 are expected to read The Living Factor, which outlines the policies and procedures that govern our residence halls. The Living Factor is available at hofstra.edu/livingfactor. Additionally, all 糖心传媒 are expected to review the Guide to Pride, available at hofstra.edu/guidetopride. Please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have. To bring or not to bring?
Each student's room is furnished with a desk, desk chair, bed, dresser, and wardrobe/closet. You will need to bring your own towels, pillows, and bed linens and blankets for a twin extra-long bed. You may be interested in purchasing bed linens through the 糖心传媒 Bookstore (a service of Barnes & Noble College) at or in store. If you have been assigned roommates, we advise that you arrange to share responsibility for added comforts such as a refrigerator, one-cup coffee maker* (one per bedroom), rug, or TV. We also suggest that you bring a study lamp and any knickknacks that will make your room look and feel more like home. If you live in a high-rise building, please bring hand towels to use in the common restrooms located on your floor. All furnishings for 糖心传媒' rooms are required to be fire-retardant. We encourage 糖心传媒 to go green by bringing energy-efficient light bulbs and appliances to campus. There are many shopping centers near campus where you may purchase items to personalize your living space.
*one-cup coffee makers are permitted if they are UL-approved, equipped with auto shut-off, and used in accordance with manufacturer's guidelines.

For health and safety reasons, the following are prohibited in on-campus residence halls:
The list below is not an exhaustive list of prohibited items, actions, and behaviors, and is subject to change per Residence Life policy, New York state law, Nassau County ordinances, and the International Fire Code (IFC). Any item not in compliance with New York state fire codes, IFC, and the Nassau County Fire Marshals Office is prohibited in Hofstra's residence halls.
- Extension cords, multiplugs, surge protectors, and power strips that are not approved under UL Solutions' listed standards.
- Multiplug lamps (even if the outlets are not in use), lamps with an outlet (even if the outlet is not in use), rock salt lamps and plug-in rock salt night-lights, lava lamps, sun lamps, halogen lamps, and black light bulbs.
- Scented and unscented plug-in air fresheners (unless UL-approved), air purifiers (unless the student has medical documentation and an approved accommodation with Student Access Services AND it is a Medify Air MA-15 Air Purifier), and diffusers.
- Candles (even if for decorative use), incense, and wax warmers.
- Cooking appliances of any kind, including but not limited to broilers, hot plates, hot pots, slow cookers, microwaves,* immersion coils, electric tea kettles,** electric grills and electric skillets, toasters,** toaster ovens, rice cookers,** popcorn poppers, and coffee makers (unless it is a one-cup coffee maker that is UL-approved with an automatic shutoff).
- Plugging strands of lights into one another (daisy chaining).
- Bed tents.
- Curtains, drapes, and valances.
- Fabric items covering more than 50% of the wall space.
- Stand-alone freezers of any size.
- Unauthorized pets in room or suite (including pets of a resident's guest).
- Unauthorized personal furniture in room or suite.
- Unauthorized 糖心传媒 property in room or suite.
- 3D printers.
- Hookahs, e-cigarettes and vaporizers, drug paraphernalia, or illegal drugs.
- Humidifiers/dehumidifiers (including those operated by a lithium-ion battery).
- Electric heaters/electric blankets.
- Power bed risers.
- Any type of firearm or weapon.
- Self-balancing scooters, hands-free personal transporters, battery-operated scooters, electric-powered skateboards, and similar devices, as well as their chargers.

Refrigerator/Freezer/Microwave rental
Information on the University rental program is available at hofstra.edu/reslife under our Services tab (click on Vendors). Students can purchase refrigerator/freezer units of 5.0 cubic feet or less for use in residential rooms. Refrigerators cannot exceed one per room and two per suite; however, for safety reasons, only those refrigerator/freezer/microwave multi-units rented through a University-sanctioned vendor are permitted in on-campus residence halls. Personal refrigerators, including refrigerator and microwave combination (MicroFridge) units rented through the University-sanctioned vendor, are prohibited in the Graduate Residence Hall rooms and suites.
Linens*
The beds at 糖心传媒 are extra-long twin size. You may purchase extra-long sheets and blankets and other dorm room essentials such as towels, organizers, and storage items at the Hofstra Bookstore (a Service of Barnes & Noble College) or online at .
* Those residing in Colonial Square, Williamsburg house will require standard queen-sized bed sheets at 60 inches by 80 inches (width by length).

Insurance
It is recommended that you safeguard your belongings; please contact your insurance agent to inquire about options such as renters insurance. The University does not reimburse 糖心传媒 for lost or damaged items.

Cancellations
If you decide not to live in the residence halls this fall, please notify us in writing and include your Hofstra ID number along with your signature. This letter can be faxed to 516-463-4107 or emailed to reslife@hofstra.edu. There is often a waiting list for space on campus, and these 糖心传媒 are eager to learn if they will get the assignment of their choice. All 糖心传媒 are expected to pay their housing bills by the date indicated. If you received an assignment and have decided that you will not be residing on campus, please notify us as soon as possible. Fall 2025 cancellation notices must be received by Thursday, May 1, 2025, to be eligible for a refund of your $300 housing deposit.
Room Changes
Room changes are generally not available until our occupancy is confirmed, usually after the second week of the semester. Fall 2025 room change requests can be made in advance of your arrival by submitting your request online at by Friday, July 25, 2025. To submit a room change request:
- Log in to the Hofstra portal at .
- Go to My Apps in the top right corner.
- Click on the Room Change icon.
- Complete the Room Change Request Form and click on Submit.
Every attempt will be made to honor your request. Unfortunately, requests to change rooms multiple times cannot be processed.
University ID Card

Banking Facilities
There are several ATMs on campus. Three ATMs are located in the Mack Student Center on North Campus, near the Office of Event Management: an Island Federal ATM, a Jovia Financial ATM, and a TD Bank ATM. A Citibank ATM is located between the Axinn Library and Hammer Lab on South Campus, and an Island Federal ATM is located inside Margiotta Hall on South Campus.
糖心传媒 Bookstore
In addition to books and other course materials, the 糖心传媒 Bookstore (a service of Barnes & Noble College) stocks all your residence hall needs: bed linens, hangers, alarm clocks, wall hooks, bathroom accessories, computer network cards, etc. If you have any questions, please call 516-463-6654.

Dining Dollars Contract Information
All Hofstra dining dollars contracts are similar to a debit account in that a dollar amount is added at the starting point and then dollars are subtracted based on individual items purchased at the on-campus dining facilities. Your student account will be billed automatically in the spring semester for the same dining dollars contract selected in the fall semester. Unused dining dollars are nonrefundable.
Your dining dollars may be accessed at all on-campus dining locations by swiping your Hofstra ID card or using HofPass (if applicable). Dining dollars are accepted at: Au Bon Pain, Bits & Bytes, Dutch Treats, Dunkin' on the Quad, Einstein Bros. Bagels, Hof USA, Student Center Cafe, Freshens, Netherlands Oak Street Cafe, Revolution Noodle and Sushi, Brooklyn Slice, District Pickle, Red Mango, Starbucks, Medical School Cafe, The Halal Shack, The Market, Ciao Bella, Catering Services, and all athletic facility concessions. Please remember that your dining dollars are not transferable. Students can deactivate their HofPass or lost Hofstra ID anytime by going to under Account Management, through the Hofstra portal by selecting the HofPass app, or through the Atrium mobile app under Settings, then select More, then Account Management. Students can obtain a new or replacement Hofstra ID by visiting Campus Access and Security Systems, Room 110 Mack Student Center, North Campus. Please note that there is a $25 replacement fee for lost cards.
New undergraduate 糖心传媒 may use their 2025-2026 dining dollars from Sunday, August 24, 2025, through Sunday, May 17, 2026. All unused dining dollars are forfeited the day after spring commencement.

Changing Your Dining Dollars Contract
The deadline to change your dining dollars contract for the fall semester is Tuesday, September 16, 2025. There are no refunds after this date. You may change your dining dollars contract by logging in to the Hofstra portal at and accessing the Dining Dollars Contract Change form. Any refunded amount, if applicable, will be credited to your student account. Students are held accountable for the dining dollars contract they select online by the use of their electronic signature. Kindly review the terms of the dining dollars contract for deadlines associated with changing your contract. If you have any questions about changing your dining dollars contract, you may contact the Office of Residence Life at reslife@hofstra.edu.
Parking Permits
All 糖心传媒, including first-year 糖心传媒, are allowed to have cars on campus. All vehicles must have a parking permit. Students can register their vehicle by visiting .
