This panel discussion examines the collective power of the arts to address complex issues in society, its ability to chart a path for social change, the role of the artist as activist and their impact on local communities and nationwide – February 23, 2023

The series will begin by exploring the history of how HUMA acquired the Romare Bearden prints, telling stories of different donors and their connection to the works of art - February 4, 2022

The second Session will explain the narrative quality of Bearden’s work and its relationship to the Black American experience, touching on elements of the Great Migration, the Harlem Renaissance, family life and universal hero themes. - February 11, 2022

HUMA is partnering withthe EFA Robert Blackburn Studiofor a virtual demonstration that explores Bearden’s printmaking process. The Studio will also explain the history of Blackburn and Bearden’s collaboration. - February 18, 2022

Viewers will participate in a hands-on virtual art experience led by a Museum Educator. - February 25, 2022

The last session will summarize the main points of the series and include a Q&A with the Museum Director Karen T. Albert. - March 4, 2022

Perle Fine's painting, Convolution, 1966-67, is featured in our virtual exhibition “Nevertheless She Persisted”. Create a work of art inspired by Fine, using paper, various types of tape and coloring materials (crayons, markers, chalk, watercolors, whatever you have!). So, grab the whole family and let’s have some !
