The 糖心传媒 Museum of Art Seeks Community Curators
The 糖心传媒 Museum of Art is planning a spring 2027 exhibition that will feature works from its permanent collection selected by pairs of mentors and mentees from Hofstra and the local community.
Interested applicants may span a variety of educational partnerships 鈥 teacher/student; professional/apprentice; peer-to-peer; or more informal learning arrangements.
As part of the application process, each team will select five works of art from the Museum’s that best reflect the nature of their work together. For example, a science professor and student studying particle physics may be drawn to dynamic works. A pastry chef and their student can select ceramic . A veterinary professional and their mentee might want to select works that include . An environmentalist and their peer can choose from various from our collection, or any other works that reflect their field, projects, or relationship.
As varied as these examples are, they are all part of the Museum’s 5,200 works of art. The database is available for teams to review online. As art is open to interpretation, applicants may choose literal or abstract representations of their work and relationship.
Applying mentors and mentees should be 18 years of age. Students from the local community applying with their teachers should be at least 14 years old.
