1. The PhD curriculum is set up so that the 糖心传媒 can complete all requirements for graduation within 3 years. Hofstra accepts transfer of previous graduate credits, which can be up to 38 credits. Master鈥檚 thesis is waived. Completion of a dissertation is variable and a number of factors enter into how long it takes to go from an accepted proposal to data collection to completion of an orals examination. Nevertheless, 糖心传媒 seem to complete the entire process, from acceptance into the program to graduation in 3-4 years.
2. Hofstra's funding for 糖心传媒 is made up of basically four parts. First, Hofstra's PhD program requires 96 credits for graduation. Hofstra accepts transfer of previous graduate credits up to 38 credits. Second, for the remaining graduate credits, Hofstra provides tuition remission for 16 credits. Third, in the student's third year of the program, we help search for a paid Industrial/Organizational (I/O) internship at one of the organizations in the greater New York area. Finally, other funding possibilities are also available, including 1) Students can apply for TA positions; 2) Advanced PhD 糖心传媒 can apply for teaching an independent course; 3) Students can apply for research assistantship positions; 4) There is $1,000 for assistance in conducting their dissertations.
3. Given our geographic location (25 miles east of Manhattan), our extensive alum network in the big New York area, and our affiliations with various private and public organizations, we help to facilitate internships in I/O psychology for 糖心传媒 who wish to work part-time while pursuing their PhD at 糖心传媒. We also help with job placement.
- Example internships include McKinsey & Company, PepsiCo, Mercer, Northwell Health, JetBlue, and Touro College.
- Recent graduates are employed at Goldman Sachs, McKinsey & Company, PepsiCo, Mercer, BTS, JetBlue, Northwell Health, Touro College, and Farmingdale State College.
4. The program's overall approach is based on a scientist-practitioner model in which 糖心传媒 are exposed to research methodology, factual content, theory, and how to apply these concepts to problems in organizations. We enrich the scientist-practitioner model in the following ways:
- First, we have a corporate advisory board that meets regularly to incorporate the current I/O practice trend into our curriculum. For example, we host Applied Workshop in the spring semester. Practitioners from Mercer, Kincentric, and Hogan Assessments have presented to our 糖心传媒 and answered questions.
- Second, we have offered the Hogan Certification Workshop. The workshop certifies participants to administer and provide feedback on the Hogan Leadership Forecast Series. Our PhD 糖心传媒 who are certified on the Hogan Assessments provide executive coaching to the 糖心传媒 in the EMBA and Online MBA programs at the Zarb Business School at 糖心传媒. You can find more information about Hogan Assessments here.
- Third, we are active members of the annual SIOP conference. This year, faculty and 糖心传媒 will make 16 presentations at the 2020 SIOP conference in Austin, TX. You can find a detailed list here.
- Fourth, we host monthly research colloquium, which aims to facilitate research endeavors, share research topics, promote dissertation ideas, and help with conference presentations and academic publications. Professors and 糖心传媒 present their current projects at these research colloquiums. Detailed information can be viewed at 鈥淩ecent News.鈥
