ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½ the Gifted Academy

Children who demonstrate intellectual abilities above their peers and age-appropriate classmates benefit enormously -- academically, socially, and emotionally -- when exposed to challenging and enriching curricula!

Application Process:

A $50 nonrefundable admission fee will apply.

  • All applicants must submit:
    • The application ()
    • Submission of test scores OR IQ scores
    • Two teacher recommendations ()

Eligibility criteria:

  • Applicants must have scored at or above a 125 IQ OR the 95th percentile in at least one major content or ability area on a nationally normed standardized test (e.g., ERB CTP 4, IOWA, CAT, MAT, CTBS, SRA, i-Ready Diagnostic).
    • State test scores will not be accepted.
  • Students identified as gifted and currently participating (or having participated successfully) in a local or school gifted program are eligible. (Must provide proof of participation)
  • Students recognized by a regional or national gifted talent search program (e.g., Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth) also qualify. (Must provide proof of recognition)

Programming: (Youth Academy)

  • 8-week long semester in the Fall and in the Spring.
  • Classes take place on Saturday mornings from 9:30am-12:30pm.
    • Students will take part in 3 different one-hour classes each Saturday morning.
      • Students will have a choice of which class they would like to take each hour.
  • Class offerings change from semester to semester to give ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½ a variety of academic opportunities.

Programming: (Summer Camp)

  • 2-week long sessions in the Summer.
  • Camp takes place Monday-Friday from 9:00am-4:00pm
    • Campers will be in their program for part the day and partake in lunch, swim, and recreation the other part of the day.
    • Campers will choose two areas of content they would like to participate in.
      • Campers will participate in each content area for 45 minutes each day.
      • Campers will attend special field trips and hear from guest speakers.
